Experimental popsters stay political
Xiu Xiu frontman Jamie Stewart has spoken out about the upcoming US presidential election claiming he's scared about the future of his country.
While there's not many musicians who have nice things to say about former President George Bush, Stewart says he is terrified of electoral candidate Mitt Romney, who he believes will indeed become the country's future President.
“I did not think it was genetically possible for there to be someone who was stupider or more terrifying than George Bush, but there is, and it is entirely likely that [Romney] will be the next president. I do not have a lot of hope for the future of the United States, or its role in the world; it's very, very frightening times.”
The questioning of American politics and tradition has often been at the forefront of Xiu Xiu's agenda, with tracks such as Support Our Troops OH! (Black Angels OH!) being a highlight on their 2004 release Fabulous Muscles.

When it comes to the state of American politics at present, Stewart's opinion is clear and simple. “It's fucked,” he concludes.
Xiu Xiu will be touring the country in October, playing shows in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in support of their latest album Always, released earlier this year.
