Danny Brown is either completely original or hopelessly eccentric, depending on who you ask.
His fourth studio album was definitely daunting at first: the title comes from a song by Joy Division, and he reportedly spent $70,000 on samples. But ultimately, you take to the dense soundscapes, and his songs about drugs are funny in a morbid way as usual thanks in largely to his trademark squawk. Above all else this is very dark stuff. Blank Face LP sounds like a Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince Best Of in comparison.
