Live Review: Asgeir, Gordi

The beauty of an early (and sold out) Enmore show is that people actually turn up early to see the supports, and oh boy, were we in for a treat with songstress Gordi.

Her distinctive vocals travelled around the venue with confidence as she previewed her upcoming album. Charming new track Bitter End was a standout, while new single Heaven I Know featured some impressive live looping. A moment of comic relief came when Gordi revealed that she found out her name meant "fat baby" in Spanish. Can We Work It Out inevitably ended the set on a high.

Asgeir Trausti Einarsson graced the stage with a calming confidence, taking a seat behind his keyboard to kick off with Hold. The light show was on point, shrouding the band with bars of light as their sound cascaded around the venue.

Focusing on latest release Afterglow for the first half of the set, before moving onto the older In The Silence, Einarsson impressed with his fabulous falsetto and dulcet tones, while his fabulous band captivated across a range of intricate sounding instruments. His music captivates, thankfully, because his stage demeanour leaves a lot to the imagination. Einarsson only said a few words throughout to thank us for coming, preferring to present himself as the timid, humble voice behind his intricate music. 

King And Cross was a moment of triumph in what was, thus far, a rather subdued portion of the set - however, it felt like it could have been a bigger moment considering the song's popularity and upbeat tempo. Luckily, Going Home got given a special extended electronic outro to close out the set.

Cheers for an encore were met with new favourite Stardust, which the crowd greatly approved of, while timeless Torrent took out the set with a bang.
