"Gentle, understated and at times reluctant to move from its comfort zone."
Angie (aka Angela Garrick, Circle Pit, Southern Comfort, Ruined Fortune, Straight Arrows et al) is back with album three.
Shyness feels appropriately titled. It's gentle, understated and at times reluctant to move from its comfort zone. Haunting vocal and guitar work revolves around cyclical piano chords for most of the record, making for an evocative if slightly repetitive experience. Listeners looking for more punch and texture might look through Garrick's back catalogue. However, those happy to meditate in Shyness' pocket of ambience will find plenty of comfort here.
