Alice Fraser: The Resistance

The intimacy of the Wild Oats Wine Bar is a perfect space for the personal nature of Alice Fraser's show. There's no dramatic unveiling. The show just starts and straight away we realise this is no standard stand-up.

Her unveiling of stories from her Buddhist childhood and personal experiences are presented in a sometimes tragic, sometimes wistful, but endearingly funny and sensitive way.

From tales of her Jewish-Hungarian grandmother and her unique tenants (diagrammed in the backdrop on the stage) to the intricacies of being 'good' and knowing when you shouldn't trust your gut, we can't help but want to hear more.

The combination of enthralling storytelling and jaunty songs make the night exceedingly worthwhile, but the fact that we know Fraser just that little bit better makes the night delightfully complete.
