Naarm/Melbourne based alt-pop artist Yorke has made her long-awaited return with her latest single, love on the run, the first taste of new music from the artist since her 2022 EP, ten feet tall.
Co-written with Lucy Healey (FINNEAS, Madison Beer, Ryan Tedder), Yorke’s new single is a pulsing, energetic piece of work which shows off her accomplished lyricism. With an undeniable pop edge and a hint of darkness, the track gives fans a peek into what’s to come from Yorke in the near future.
“Sonically, I think of the new world as the redemption of my 20s,” Yorke explains. “I just really wanted to create music people could exercise, party, drive or get ready to, as I was sick of being sad and wanted to regain control.
“It’s the first time since starting the Yorke project that I haven’t felt ashamed to say, ‘Hey, I love writing and listening to pop music more than anything.”
Alongside the release of the track, Yorke has also shared a music video for love on the run, with ARIA Award-winning director Kyle Caulfield at the helm. As she explains, it’s a video which shows the duality of women, illustrating the complicated inner world of an artist in her 20s.

“Some days I feel great and confident, and other days I’m feeling low, vulnerable and anxious – but there is power in both,” she explains. “Through the two characters in the video, we got to explore these feelings more in depth, whilst simultaneously portraying a heightened superhero/villain story narrative in a Gotham style universe.”
“We wanted to find a way to study and portray the concept of good vs evil, in a camp/supervillain aesthetic,” adds Caulfield. “We were really attached to themes driven by colour, production design, we wanted it to look sleek with a high polish, but still resemble classic superhero and detective films.”
The launch of Yorke’s latest track also comes alongside a number of tour dates supporting Kita Alexander on her Young In Love tour. The tour began in the Gold Coast on Thursday, October 25th, and will travel throughout New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania over the next month. Tickets to Alexander’s current tour are on sale now.
