An amazing day to be a Wombats fan down under.
After topping the charts with their UK number one album Fix Yourself, Not The World and playing their biggest ever global headline tour, indie icons The Wombats have today announced their new EP Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This?
The EP will be released on the 18th of November both digitally and on vinyl and will be followed by a series of intimate, yet still huge Australian shows alongside their appearance at Spilt Milk festival. The band will kick off their tour at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on the 27th of November before heading to Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide on Thursday the 1st of December, Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane on the 6th of December, Bar on the Hill in Newcastle on the 9th of December then closing the tour off with a huge show at the Sydney Opera House Concert hall in Sydney on the 11th of December.
Their forthcoming project is their rawest material yet, featuring strong guitar riffs and heavy choruses. They've also today revealed their eponymous lead single, which blends their infectious, trademark energy with a catchy riff. On the creation of the track, frontman Matthew Murphy states, “I remember driving past an extremely rundown hotel and wondering what the hell could be going on in there, and that's where this song was born. It's about catching someone in a compromising situation that's very unusual for their specific character and is far more fitting for your own.”
Built over 16 years, The Wombats are currently at the peak of their powers, building their already expanding audience with every subsequent release. The band have recently embarked on their huge world tour, playing their biggest ever headline show at London's The O2, also popping into North and South America and Europe.
