Is 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' Tarantino's Best Film? This Aussie Actor Reveals The Set Secrets

Recent reviews of Quentin Tarantino's ninth film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood suggest it is one of his best and according to cast member and Australian actor Damon Herriman being on set with the legendary filmmaker is like "Actor Disneyland".

Speaking to The Music recently to promote his new Stan series, Perpetual Grace, LTD, Herriman also discussed his work on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood which sees him taking on the role of Charles Manson. 

As he features in a cast that boasts the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and fellow Australian Margot Robbie, Herriman said he made a point to "take it all in".

"'Don't forget anything, just soak this in because this is not one of those experiences that comes along too often,'" the Adelaide-born actor said. 

“It was the best fun I've ever had shooting anything, I think. It was just like being a kid in a candy store. It's like Actor Disneyland to be on that set.

"It almost feels like you're in a Tarantino film when you walk onto set. There's '60s music playing, there's this amazing design…”

Herriman described Tarantino as “incredibly enthusiastic” while on set Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

“He’s like a kid in a candy store himself being on set – he just loves doing what he does and he does it so incredibly well," Herriman said.

"He was just a very charming, friendly guy who would chat to you about any topic you wanted to bring up.” 

On playing Manson, Herriman said it was "certainly incredibly disturbing doing research" on the infamous cult leader. 

"I watched every interview that is available to watch and I read everything I could," Herriman said.

"It's creepy watching him speak sometimes and it's horrific knowing what took place under his instruction, but for me, and what I had to do in the film, it certainly wasn't something where I was taking that home at night or anything. Thankfully.”
