The video for 'Tunaomba Saidia' was created entirely by a local crew in the African country
Stalwart Aussie outfit The Basics have unveiled yet another taste from their forthcoming full-length album The Age Of Entitlement with the colourful new video clip for their tribally influenced cut Tunaomba Saidia.
To ensure the accompanying clip evoked a sense of authenticity, The Basics travelled to Nairobi and Machakos Town, in Kenya, conscripting a crew entirely sourced from the local population to put together their vision.
Those with a keen ear may pick up on a seeming incongruity between the song's lyrics, which detail harrowing experiences lived by humans dwelling in war-torn African countries, and its ebullient, upbeat instrumentals. However, the band say this is all perfectly intentional, telling a YouTube commenter who noted the discrepancy: "You are correct, but the song also serves an an homage to the Benga style of music and video-making that inspired it, and it was all conceived, produced, choreographed and shot by a local Kenya crew."
