The production features a book written by the team of Scott Brown & Anthony King
Australian actor, musician and comedian Eddie Perfect is set to extend his musical theatre horizons with an adaptation of Tim Burton's seminal 1988 comedy-horror-fantasy Beetlejuice, the Offspring star has confirmed.
As Playbill reports, Perfect has been tapped to write the score for the upcoming musical, with a book written by creative partners Scott Brown and Anthony King (who previously worked together on Off-Broadway show Gutenberg! The Musical!).
The information about the writing team for the Beetlejuice musical — which will be directed by Alex Timbers and is still in the developmental stages, through Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures — came from an Actors' Equity casting notice for an upcoming staged reading of the show, due to happen in May.
Perfect verified the news of his involvement on Twitter, pointing to the article and saying: "Cat's out of the bag now."

As Playbill notes, the Aussie performer is no stranger to musical theatre, having incorporated melodious elements into his own shows, including the Helpmann Award-winning Shane Warne: The Musical (2008) and its spiritual predecessor, 2007's Keating! The Musical, among several others.
