Grammy-award-winning songwriter and producer Tourist has today (July 2) announced his return to Australia in October this year.
In support of his fifth album, Memory Morning, the English electronic musician will be hitting up The Triffid in Brisbane on October 8, before stopping at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on October 9 and Sydney’s Liberty Hall on October 10. Tourist will be closing out his run Down Under at Jack Rabbit Slims in Perth on October 11. All shows will be 18+ events.
Pre-sale for Mastercard cardholders and My Live Nation members will open at 9am local time tomorrow, Wednesday July 3. Pre-sale will remain open until 9am on Friday July 5.
General sale opens an hour later, at 10am local time on Friday July 5 via Live Nation.
Memory Morning dropped in May this year, made with just a laptop, a smartphone, and an OP1 synthesizer. In a press release, Tourist said, “I want this album to be a place you go and visit often, and where you find new, little things in it every time you go.”

Speaking on his previous tour, he said, “I love that the people who come to my shows do so not for my brand new album, but for what their idea of my music is. I realized that each album in my career is the chapter of a book; some are more interesting than others, but you only know how interesting they are when you finish them.”
In a review of Tourist’s 2016 Sydney show for The Music, Cassie Warriner wrote: “Throughout the show, Tourist showcased his enduring ability to recreate his own tracks through sporadic, emotional lyricism and a progressive, deep-house edge. The production moved between emotional ballads such as Waves and momentary London underground vibes of Foolish in a chaotic-yet-contagiously bouncy manner.”
