This Aussie Artist Was One Of Spotify's Most Streamed In The Last Decade

So it turns out that it's Spotify's 10th birthday this week. Frankly, we're surprised how quickly it's come around too but nonetheless the Swedish-born company has reached a decade and to celebrate, they've shared some stats from their first ten years. 

Spotify have shared a heap of stats surrounding the anniversary, including their top streamed artists, albums and songs of all time and the first 10 artists to reach 1 billion streams on the platform. Interestingly though, just one Aussie has made it into the streaming giant's birthday stats. 

As part of their 'Most streamed song each year since Spotify launch' list, Spotify has shared that Melbourne artist Gotye had the platform's most streamed song back in 2012 with Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra). Gotye joins the list alongside The Killers, Eminem, Drake, Ed Sheeran and more. 

Drake has taken out #1 on the 'Top streamed artists of all time' while Sheeran is at #2, however they switch rankings when it comes to the 'Most streamed songs of all time' where Sheeran's Shape Of You is #1 and Drake's One Dance is #2.

Rihanna was the first artist to reach 1 billion streams on the platform back in 2013, however that did still wasn't enough to see her secure a place in top streamed albums and songs of all time lists. Rihanna did place fifth on the 'Top streamed artists of all time' list, with Arianna Grande the only other woman to make the list, coming in at #10.
