For one night only, beloved Melbourne trio The Peep Tempel – who have been on hiatus since playing their final shows across the country in October 2017 – will reunite and headline OK MOTELS Festival in February 2024.
The event, which starts on Friday, 23 February and ends on Sunday, 25 February, will find The Peep Tempel break from their six-year hiatus and headline the stacked festival alongside The Slingers, Nice Biscuit, Watty Thompson, The Belair Lip Bombs, Polly and The Pockets, Comets, DJ’s Queenie and Brat Paisley.
The event will take place in Charlton, Victoria - a town that’s situated halfway between Mildura and Melbourne, a two-hour and 52-minute drive from the city.
Prior to their hiatus and sold-out national tour, The Peep Tempel put out three acclaimed albums – 2012’s self-titled LP, 2014’s Tales, and 2016’s Joy. For nine years, they were unstoppable – the trio of vocalist and guitarist Blake Scott, drummer Steven Carter and bassist Stewart Rayner toured non-stop across Australia.
“It's easy to over-simplify when it comes to The Peep Tempel,” The Music’s Matt O’Neill wrote in an album review of Joy.
O’Neill continued, “Often, their work is discussed in terms of bracing, noisy punk-rock. This isn't an unfair categorisation. However, it does somewhat sell them short. Without deviating too much from the economical craftsmanship that's been the foundation of the band's career, third album, Joy, makes it a little bit harder for casual listeners to ignore the intellect and idiosyncrasies that have always sat at the heart of the band's work.

“It's a little bit sharper. A little bit more accessible. A little bit (read: marginally) shinier.”
The remainder of the OK MOTELS line-up – announced in July – is also stellar, guaranteed to get punk, rock and alternative music fans to Charlton for a weekend.
Tickets for the 2024 event are on sale now via the OK MOTELS website.
