The legendary acts have locked in a generous five standalone performances in April
There is no question that Santana and The Doobie Brothers are two of the biggest draws for next year's Byron Bay Bluesfest, and now the legendary pair of acts is giving far-flung or otherwise unable-to-attend fans a hail-mary chance to catch them in action at one of four joint shows in April.
Going well above and beyond the usual two-off extension to such local visits, Carlos & The Doobs (admit it, that would be an excellent supergroup name) will hit Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney as part of Santana's globe-spanning Transmogrify tour.
From there, the acts part ways, with Santana setting off for a standalone outing at Canberra's Royal Theatre, while The Doobie Brothers make their way north to The Tivoli, in Brisbane, for their own performance.
It's been three years since Santana last toured Australia, and stretching back a little further, to 2011, unearths the last time he teamed up with The Doobie Brothers on local shores, when they stepped out together at a one-off show in the Hunter Valley. Now, both he and his fellow in-form veterans are all set to treat local fans to a ream of their best-known and best-loved material; however, don't expect only old tunes to populate the set, particularly in Santana's case — he released his 24th studio album, Santana IV, back in April, nabbing himself a not-at-all-unimpressive #5 debut on the Billboard charts.

The pair of acts will be joined for their show in Adelaide by Aussie legend Russell Morris. In Canberra, Santana will be supported by incendiary stringsmith Tash Sultana.
