Two Bluesfest favourite acts, the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Rickie Lee Jones, have expanded their stops in Australia, adding sideshows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney alongside their Bluesfest Byron Bay sets over the Easter Weekend of 2024.
In addition to their appearances at Bluesfest Byron Bay, Tedeschi Trucks Band – the successful, collaborative 12-piece musical outfit led by the husband-and-wife duo, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks will perform two sets at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on Wednesday, 3 April, as well as another two-set gig at Sydney’s State Theatre on Friday, 5 April.
Meanwhile, Rickie Lee Jones – the genius behind the original The Horses – is returning to Australia for the first time in seven years. While she’s scheduled to perform at Bluesfest Byron Bay on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, Jones will also extend her Australian visit to The Gov in Adelaide (Tuesday, 26 March), Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre (Wednesday, 27 March) and the Factory Theatre in Sydney on Friday, 29 March.
Pre-sale tickets to the two Bluesfest sideshow acts go on sale on Tuesday, 17 October, at midday AEST. The general sale begins on Thursday, 19 October, at noon – you can sign up here for pre-sale access and buy tickets via the Bluesfest Tours website.
“We’ve been waiting eight long years for Tedeschi Trucks Band to return, and I’m delighted to be able to bring them to Melbourne, Sydney and Bluesfest Byron Bay,” Bluesfest Director Peter Noble commented in a statement. “Last week, Tedeschi Trucks Band headlined Madison Square Garden in New York. These guys are a big deal!”
