More Reliqa More Reliqa

Sydney progressive metal outfit Reliqa are primed to take over the heavy music scene, not just in Australia but globally, locking in record deals with Germany’s premier metal label, Nuclear Blast and Australia’s own Greyscale Records.

In addition to that thrilling news, Reliqa have released their latest single, Terminal. Instantly memorable and one of their strongest singles to date, the track opens with an addictive synth line before electrifying guitars and drums enter the mix. Then, it’s over to vocalist Monique Pym, who takes listeners on a dynamic journey perfect for a powerful modern metal song.

You can watch the music video for Terminal below.

On Terminal, the band shared in a press release, “This process was very sporadic/stream-of-consciousness. Anything we were listening to, watching, reading or experiencing at the time, we took it and ran with it. It was very human in that way.

“Our songwriting style took a massive turn early last year as we switched from writing in a more remote, ‘production-line’ workflow to forcing ourselves to start from scratch, together, in the same room.”

On signing with Nuclear Blast and Greyscale, the band added (via Instagram), “We are so proud to finally announce that Reliqa has joined the Nuclear Blast and Greyscale Records families.”

Already in command of a dedicated and evolving fanbase, the band has made a dizzying ascent in just a few short years, thanks to two EPs and three tracks with over a million streams (Doomed, Mr. Magic and The Halfway Point).

Their 2022 EP, I Don’t Know What I Am, showcased Reliqa as they continued to flex their knack for powerful and clever craftsmanship with aggressive riffs, symphonic soundscapes and gripping melodies. You can read Pym’s exploration of the EP here.

Reliqa supported Spiritbox on their exclusive Melbourne Knotfest sideshow last year (read our review), and next month, they’ll open for Halestorm in Sydney and Brisbane on their Knotfest sideshows. You can find tickets for those shows here.
