“Facing a rather large financial loss we were left with no option but to cancel the show.”
In the midst of touring their debut EP, Sydney indie pop quartet The Lulu Raes have cancelled their show in Adelaide this Friday, alleging the venue dishonoured their agreement.
The band claim SA venue Producers Bar withdrew the offer of a retainer, which they were relying on to alleviate travel and accommodation costs.
Since booking the All Our Parents Are Divorced Adelaide show on Aug 5, the venue has changed booker.
“A few weeks back the new person in that role attempted to renegotiate every aspect of the contract pulling the bands performance fee, accom and backline,” The Lulu Raes said in a statement.

“Facing a rather large financial loss we were left with no option but to cancel the show.”
Producer Bar has responded to The Music, stating they would have loved to have hosted The Lulu Raes but were presented with an “invalid” contract.
“The contract hadn’t even been signed off by Lulu Raes management/agent, or been signed on our end by an authorised person,” Producer Bar said.
The Grenfell St venue said they were simply the venue, and not promoters, claiming their agent had “attempted to pass on most of the risk to the venue through an unauthorised person.”
“Maybe if they hadn’t only sold seven tickets to the show, their agency wouldn’t have cancelled the event.”
The Lulu Raes have provided The Music with a copy of their signed contract.
