Snoop Dogg is set to be an Olympic torchbearer, carrying the flame in its final leg on the way to the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The rapper will be walking through the northern Paris suburb of Saint-Denis, home to the Stade de France Olympic Stadium.
The town’s mayor was the first to announce Snoop’s new role, posting to X that he was “an international casting.”
Snoop soon followed suit, posting, “U gots to do it!!” along with the hashtag “#FollowTheDogg”.

The Drop It Like It’s Hot hitmaker will also contribute to NBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games this year and has already met with the USA team ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
He even tried running the 200-metre race earlier this week, setting a 34.44 time.
“34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad,” Snoop said.
In his role as an Olympic reporter, NBC has confirmed that Snoop will “explore the city’s iconic landmarks, attend Olympic competitions and events, and visit with the athletes, their friends, and families”.

In a press statement, Snoop himself affirmed that he hasn’t simply taken the job for an extra drop of fame (or money), noting he “grew up watching the Olympics” and is “thrilled to see the incredible athletes bring their A-game to Paris” for “a celebration of skill, dedication, and the pursuit of greatness”.
He added, “We’re going to have some amazing competitions, and, of course, I will be bringing that Snoop style to the mix. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned and keep it locked. Let’s elevate, celebrate, and make these games unforgettable, smoke the competition, and may the best shine like gold. Peace and Olympic LOVE, ya dig?”
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will kick off this Friday, June 26, with the Opening Ceremony.
