Seven Songs To Leave Behind is heading to Arts Centre Melbourne this month, where CW Stoneking, Sarah Blasko and Ali Barter will share and perform seven songs close to their hearts, working within the same criteria. 

It's no small task to choose the seven tracks that best represent you as an artist and person, including the song you'd want to be remembered by, the favourite song from your repertoire and which of Leonard Cohen's songbook you'd want to cover. Here, we've taken a guess at the tracks Seven Songs To Leave Behind attendees can expect to hear from CW Stoneking on the night.

1. Their first song/the song that made them famous

While Stoneking was amassing fans everywhere he went and had picked up the nomination for best Blues/Roots Album at the ARIA Awards for King Hokum back in 2007, there's no denying the impact that his Later... With Jools Holland appearance in 2010 had on a worldwide scale when he performed Jungle Lullaby. Holland dubbed Stoneking as having "a very individualist sound" and fans were made the world over. 

2. A song they wish they’d written

There's just something about this 1933 version of St James Infirmary Blues from Cab Calloway that we think lends itself a whole lot to Stoneking's style. Perhaps this could be edging to the top of his songwriting wish list?

3. A song to share with the other artists

We're putting our vote in for Cohen's Tower Of Song. There's a lot that Stoneking could do with that nice rolling beat and, of course, those lyrics.

The Zombie is just too damn good. Look from a selfish perspective, even if it's not Stoneking's favourite all-time track, we'd be keen to hear it.

To be honest, with a back catalogue like Stoneking's, we're not even going to presume to know this one, so instead we leave you with Jungle Blues, because we like it.
