Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Announces 2023 Nominees

The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame has announced the nominees for this year's ceremony. While the nominations need to be whittled down to determine the final inductees, fans currently have the opportunity to vote for their favourite artists to be inducted via the Rock Hall’s website or in person at its Cleveland-based museum.

The nominees eligible for induction in 2023 are Iron Maiden, Soundgarden, Rage Against The Machine, George Michael, the double-billed Joy Division/New Order, Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, A Tribe Called Quest, Warren Zevon, The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, and Willie Nelson.

The date for this year's ceremony hasn't been announced yet.

In November, a petition to induct INXS into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame appeared online. 

The website's mission statement reads, "As a fan-based group, our mission is to get INXS nominated & inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. Our hope is that by Engaging, Educating & Inspiring old and new fans alike, we can achieve our goal and ensure INXS's legacy. A thousand years from now, we want people to remember the electrifying performances, genre-bending music and endless talent that is INXS - what better way to honour & immortalise this iconic band than get them inducted into the RRHOF!" 

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 ceremony inductees included Duran Duran, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Eurythmics, Eminem, Carly Simon, Dolly Parton, and Lionel Richie in the Performers category.

Meanwhile, Judas Priest and, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis won the Musical Excellence Award. 

Harry Belafonte and Elizabeth Cotten received the Early Influence Award. Jimmy Iovine, Allen Grubman, and Sylvia Robinson won the Ahmet Ertegun Award for non-performing musical professionals who influenced rock and roll music.

While Dolly Parton initially insisted that she was not "rock worthy" upon her nomination, she certainly seemed like a rockstar on stage. 

Performing Jolene, Parton was joined by an all-rocking cast of guitarist Zac Brown, country singer Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, P!nk, Annie Lennox, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran singer Simon Le Bon, and the Metal God himself, Rob Halford. Halford sang the classic hit arm in arm with Parton on an occasion nobody could have predicted.
