Post Malone Purchases 'Magic: The Gathering' Card Worth $2 Million Off Fan

Post Malone has purchased a very rare Magic: The Gathering card from a fan - and it’s valued at a whopping $2 million.

ICYMI: Earlier this year, Magic: The Gathering fans were sent into a frenzy with the release of the special Lord Of The Rings: Tales of Middle Earth set, which introduced one of the game’s rarest-ever cards, a one-of-one serialised foil print of The One Ring card, printed in the Black Speech of Sauron using Tengwar letterforms.

The extraordinarily rare card made its way into the hands of a fan named Brock Trafton, who chose to remain anonymous when it was revealed the card had been found.

The card was graded at a 9 out of 10 and valued at over $2 million USD due to it being one of only a handful of 1:1 Magic card prints ever made.

“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the Darkness bind them,” The official MTG Twitter account said, quoting author J.R.R. Tolkien, in response to the One Ring being found. “We are thrilled to hear tale of a new Ring-bearer in possession of the serialized 1:1 The One Ring! This journey is finished, but the adventure with #MTGxLOTR’s continues!”

Brock then decided to reach out to fellow MTG fan, Post Malone, and on Tuesday he shared a TikTok video documenting their meet-up.

The muso is seen examining the card before responding: “Yeah, I’ll take it.”

“This is so cool. This is, like, the greatest shit ever, dude!” Posty added.

Trafton went on to write a touching post about the whole experience in the video’s caption, saying, “When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @Post Malone.”

“I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life-changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. “

He continued, “This is my dream come true, meeting Post Malone and him buying the One Ring card from me is literally a moment straight out of a fairytale. Post Malone @Magic: The Gathering you have changed my life. Things like this don’t happen to people like me, I guess it’s magic. I am forever grateful.”

It’s not the first time the Sunflower singer has dropped an eye-watering amount on Magic: The Gathering. Posty told Howard Stern last year that he spent a cool $800,000 on a Black Lotus, one of the most sought-after cards in the game.
