In April, Pink Floyd offered their fans to experience The Dark Side Of The Moon in the most epic fashion based in Western Australia.
Eight fans travelled to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Marine Park (Nyinggulu) in Exmouth, Western Australia, and listened to The Dark Side Of The Moon until a forecasted solar eclipse took over the sky.
The event was so superb and nerdy that Pink Floyd had it timed so Roger Waters's iconic closing lines, “But the sun is eclipsed by the moon…” from the album’s final song, Eclipse, aligned with the extraordinary moment of total eclipse at 11:29 am WST.
This Friday (13 October), a 30-minute documentary about the eclipse and their fans’ experiences will be unveiled on Pink Floyd’s YouTube channel. You can check out the teaser video below.
The documentary was created by the band’s longtime Creative Consultant and Hipgnosis co-founder, Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell, Director Benny Trickett and Producer Fiz Oliver and tracked the affectionately named Astronome Domine Eight, who listened to Dark Side Of The Moon alongside a purpose-built pyramid on a deserted beach.
This Friday marks another momentous occasion for Pink Floyd, with the band releasing the 50th anniversary edition of their seminal 1973 album.
