Sydney Writers' Festival has today announced a special one-off event with Patti Smith in conversation with Paul Kelly.
Happening at Sydney Town Hall on 8 April ahead of the festival, Smith will tell the story behind her latest New York Times-bestseller, Year Of The Monkey, and share her thoughts on "loss and ageing, personal catastrophe, political grief - and hoping for a better world".
Blending memoir with fiction, Year Of The Monkey follows Smith through a year of solitary wandering "from Southern California to the Arizona desert, from the Kentucky farm of a friend in crisis to the hospital room of a valued mentor".
Smith will be in the country as part of her appearance at Byron Bay Bluesfest.
