Liam Payne, the former One Direction member and solo artist, has been forced to postpone tour dates in South America as he deals with a “serious kidney infection”.
Issuing a video on Instagram and a series of tweets yesterday (25 August), the Stack It Up singer informed fans that he needs rest and recovery time.
“It’s with a heavy heart I have to tell you that we have no other choice but to postpone my upcoming tour of South America,” he wrote on Instagram, accompanying the video.
Revealing the severity of the situation, Payne continued, “Over the past week, I’ve been in hospital with a serious kidney infection. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone, and the doctor’s orders are that I now need to rest and recover.”
Payne went on to say that he “was beyond excited to come play for you guys”. He then apologised to all the ticketholders and shared that he and his team are looking to reschedule the tour as soon as possible.
“But for now, we will be refunding the tickets – so please look out for updates from your point of purchase,” he said. “Thanks as always for the love and support, and I look forward to seeing you soon.”

In his video message, Payne told fans he’d been feeling “a little bit unwell recently”. Luckily, he has the “best people at home trying to help me recover,” as the doctor orders to put off the tour. The South American tour would have begun on Friday, 1 September, in Peru.
Last year, Payne revealed some of his true feelings about his former bandmates on the Logan Paul Podcast, putting a pin in any One Direction reunion rumours.
"It was well-known within the band that I don't like taking shit," Payne began.
He then told a story involving violence from an undisclosed band member and recalled, "There was one moment where there was an argument backstage, and one member, in particular, threw me up a wall. So I said to him, 'If you don't remove those hands, there's a high likelihood you'll never use them again.'"
In May, Niall Horan said, “I would never say no” to a One Direction reunion.
