See you next Tuesday. And the next. And the next.
Extremely emotional rock staples The National have announced 'An Exciting Communal Event', an ongoing YouTube series in which they will sprinkle "content from their vaults" such as "classic live sets" and previously unseen band footage into our lives every Tuesday.
Just last week, Matt Berninger and co celebrated the tenth anniversary of fifth album High Violet with an expanded triple-LP re-release - then premiered 2010 live film The National - ‘High Violet’ Live From Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) on YouTube just for good measure. Now they seem to have gotten a taste for it, their newest live rarity landing earlier today.
The band are also using the series as an opportunity to raise funds for their roadcrew. There will be directions to donate on their channel, and all profits from their webstore and fan club are currently being used to pay their team while the band are unable to tour.
“Our crew are the lifeblood of our touring operation," the group have stated, "and have become family through the many years we’ve worked together.
"As uncertainty looms over the state of the live concert industry, we will direct all profits from merch sales through our webstore, new Cherry Tree fan club enrollments, and sales from the Cherry Tree members-only store to support our crew members throughout this crisis to the best of our ability."
