My Chemical Romance's Mikey Way Honoured With Fender Signature Bass Guitar

My Chemical Romance bassist Mikey Way has been honoured with a new signature guitar, courtesy of Fender.

The Fender Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass is a vintage, 70s-style inspired instrument, featuring a silver sparkle finish (matching with his Squire Mustang Bass) with the punchy tone Way needs when he’s jamming on stage or in the studio.

His second signature instrument with Fender, “It’s as if the bass jumped straight from my dreams into reality. It’s my most favourite instrument I’ve ever played,” Way said in a press release.

Justin Norvell, Executive Vice President of Products at FMIC, added in a statement, “For over two decades, Mikey Way has been a legendary influence in the modern music guitar genre and a part of the Fender family. We are honoured to work with him for the second time and bring his vision for this Signature Jazz Bass® to life.

“Our team really wanted to make it extra special and was dedicated to getting his inspiration for every spec and detail right. The 70s-inspired J Bass® pickups and stamped tuning machines deliver a balanced sound and punchy tones, making it an excellent choice for any musician performing in the studio, club, or arena. We look forward to seeing what our players create!”

At the time of writing, the Fender Limited Edition Mikey Way Jazz Bass will be made available in Australia, the US, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Potential buyers are looking at prices of $1,499 USD, £1,399.00 GBP, €1,599.00 EUR, and $2,649.00 AUD.
