Most Popular Eurovision: Australia Decides Songs Revealed

Aussievision, a dedicated team of Australian Eurovision enthusiasts who host their own weekly podcast, has looked at the stats and rounded up the most popular songs to have featured on Eurovision: Australia Decides.

Eurovision: Australia Decides ran between 2019 and 2022, besides 2021, following the cancellation of the previous year, and crowned the winners to go on to the actual show, including Kate Miller-Heidke, Montaigne and Sheldon Riley.

Deciding this year’s act internally, SBS selected Perth’s synth-metal outfit, Voyager, who were runners-up in last year’s Australia Decides contest with Dreamer.

While Eurovision: Australia Decides didn’t last long, it undoubtedly played a part in the careers of the artists who went on to perform at the Song Contest and gave the runner-ups some press.

So many songs, including tracks that didn’t make this list (Jaguar Jonze’s Rabbit Hole, anyone?), should have been higher. But, it’s an interesting result – who would have known that Sheppard’s On My Way has gained that many streams since 2019?

At this year’s edition of Eurovision, Voyager took home the Semi Final Two Public Televote for Promise at 149 points, topping Austria’s Teya & Salena by twelve points.

“Who would have thought that an independent, progressive metal band from Perth, WA, would take a top 10 position at the world's biggest song contest?!!” Voyager tweeted upon hearing the news that they’d finished in ninth place overall. Eurovision 2023 was taken out by Sweden’s Loreen, who won the final vote with her performance of Tattoo.
