The 1975 frontman Matty Healy reportedly has “mixed feelings” about being the partial subject of Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
The pair’s short-lived relationship supposedly inspired some songs on The Tortured Poets Department. Healy and Swift were rumoured to date from April to June 2023 after the Blank Space singer split with her long-term partner, Joe Alwyn.
According to a “close friend” who spoke in the new issue of Us Weekly, Healy has conflicting emotions about the relationship making it to Swift’s latest album.
“He loves the attention it’s brought to him, [but] he also thinks it’s hilarious because at no time [were they] ever serious,” the source said.
The source added that Healy was “completely blindsided” by The Tortured Poets Department’s “lyrical content” – especially the storytelling on loml, in which Swift sings, “You shit-talked me under the table, talking rings and talking cradles,” and “You and I go from one kiss to getting married”.
“For her to be saying things about baby carriages … and living together — he says it had never even come up,” the friend claimed. “He’s taking it in stride.”

Last June, Noel Gallagher weighed in on the pair’s apparent breakup, stating that it served Healy right.
“Taylor has obviously said, ‘Now look, keep your fucking nose out of that Gallagher business, or we are fucking through,’” Gallagher quipped, continuing his feud with The 1975’s vocalist after calling him a “slack-jawed fuckwit”, The 1975 “certainly not fucking rock” and “shit”.
He added, “And he couldn’t help it. And Swifty, God bless her, said, ‘I can’t deal with this shit because once he’s done with you, he is gonna come after me and I’m not fucking having it. So, I’m sorry, Matty, you gotta go.’… Serves him right!”
Swift has dominated the ARIA Charts since she released The Tortured Poets Department, occupying the entire Top 10 Singles chart at one point. Her new album is not without critics, though. Check out The Music’s new columnist’s scathing take on the album here.
