Kim Wilde Teases Aus Tour

Remember Kids Of America? How about You Keep Me Hangin’ On? Well, there’s good news coming your way: Kim Wilde is preparing to announce an Australian tour.

The English singer, best known for her debut single and her cover of a The Supremes classic, is the most-charted British female solo artist of the ‘80s thanks to holding 17 Top 40 singles in the UK.

While Kim Wilde’s 1981 self-titled debut album debuted at #25 in Australia, her 1982 follow-up, Select, landed at #8. Over the years, she’s featured on and disappeared from the ARIA Charts (she’s been a chart mainstay with numerous singles). Wilde’s most recent album, Here Come The Aliens, was released in March 2018.

Kim Wilde last visited Australia in November 2016 on a co-headline tour with fellow ‘80s icon Howard Jones. According to tour promoters Metropolis Touring, she’s announcing a tour soon, with the opportunity to register for the exclusive pre-sale on Wednesday, 13 March.

Last week, a 4 CD box set of Wilde’s output for RAK Records was released, showcasing remastered Kim Wilde, Select and Catch As Catch Can (1983) with bonus tracks and a disc of remixes (the Special Disco Mixes).

In a review of Wilde’s concert at Perth’s Astor Theatre in November 2013, The Music reviewer Mac McNaughton declared that Wilde is a “survivor” of the ‘80s pop era.

McNaughton wrote, “Rocking out four of her earliest singles off the bat reminded us how boisterously her career started. Her cover of Bee Gees' If I Can't Have You and tracks Keep Me Hangin' On and the gracious You Came enveloped The Astor in pure joy.”

The Music’s Cyclone Wehner has described Wilde as “trailblazing”, explaining in an interview with the star: “Wilde was trailblazing - the synthwave Cambodia, View From A Bridge and Child Come Away still sound cutting-edge today”.
