"I guess with an award like this it’s not necessarily something you're thinking about during your career, but when they happen it feels good."

On Thursday, 16 November, Australian rock favourites Jebediah will be added to the West Australian Music (WAM) Hall Of Fame. Tickets to the WAM Hall Of Fame ceremony, held at the Regal Theatre in Perth, will be available soon.
The Leaving Home outfit will join an esteemed list of musicians in the WAM Hall Of Fame, including Bon Scott, INXS’s Farriss Brothers, Tim Minchin, Baby Animals’ Suze DeMarchi, The Waifs, The Triffids, and many more.
As well as the announcement of their induction, it’s been a big week for Jebediah, who released their first new song in 12 years, Gum Up The Bearings, earlier this week.
Jebediah will perform at WAMFest on Friday, 17 November, at The Rechabite in Northbridge to celebrate their WAM Hall Of Fame induction. Tickets are on sale now via the WAM website.
Sharing WAM’s Facebook post announcing their induction into the Hall Of Fame, Jebediah wrote:
When we first started out playing shows around Perth in 1995 we felt quickly embraced by the local music community and that support was crucial to us being able to forge a career beyond WA without having to relocate interstate, which was the done thing in those times. It is amazing to us to still be here all these years later and for that support to have remained so rock solid for the entirety of the band's existence. We are incredibly lucky.
Vocalist Kevin Mitchell said in a press statement, “I guess with an award like this it’s not necessarily something you're thinking about during your career, but when they happen it feels good. I think as I've gotten older I've learned to appreciate it a lot more as well.

“Looking back I feel we've had such a such a good relationship with WA. WA has been so supportive of us for such a long time. That's what it really kind of brings to mind for me, is just the support and the goodwill. That’s just always been there ever since I was a teenager when we first started and now I'm about to be 46-year-old. A lot of time has passed, and that supportive goodwill has never ever wavered. That's something that I feel like celebrating.”
