Australian music legend James Reyne is hitting the road in early 2024, celebrating the 40th anniversary of Australian Crawl’s classic album, Crawl File.
The beloved greatest hits compilation has also been reissued to vinyl, being released by Universal Music Australia tomorrow – you can pre-order your copy here.
Crawl File is packed with songs you know and love, from Reckless to Errol, Oh No Not You Again, Lakeside, Downhearted and Things Don’t Seem, opening with Beautiful People and closing with a raucous live rendition of the singalong-ready The Boys Light Up.
“It was all a long time ago,” Reyne said in a press release, “and sometimes I feel like it was another person who lived that life.
“But I’m still making music, and I’m still on the road. Australian Crawl was a great apprenticeship.”
Embarking on the Crawl File 40th anniversary tour from January through to March, these are only the first dates revealed; another two announcements are to come. Tickets are on sale now via the James Reyne website.

Reyne will be accompanied by an eight-piece band on this tour, including guitarists Brett Kingman and Josh Owen, bassist Andy McIvor, Sean Johnson on keys, drummer John Watson (who was part of Australian Crawl with Reyne) and backing singers Melinda Jackson and Nicky Kurta.
In 2021, The Music went back in time and explored James Reynes’ deep cuts. Yeah, we all know Boys Light Up and Reckless, but how about Motor City? You can check out our choices here.
