Ice Cube Hints At NWA Reunion For Coachella 2016

You may be able to add seminal hip hop outfit NWA to the list of reforming acts for Coachella this year alongside Guns N' Roses and LCD Soundsystem, as Ice Cube has hinted that he will be joined by his fellow NWA members on stage during his solo show this April.

During a TV appearance on US show The Talk, the 46-year-old said of a potential reunion at Coachella, "I've got some tricks up my sleeves."

"I'm gonna try to bring the members of N.W.A together. Give everybody a little history lesson on Ice Cube and N.W.A, West Side Connection, everything I've been doing over the years."

The rapper-turned-actor also teased that his Coachella show would also include "some great visuals", following speculation that the late founding member of NWA, Eazy E, will feature in the performance as a hologram, afterTupac Shakur's hologram appeared at the 2012 festival during Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg's headline set. 

Cube's comments come just months after he told theMusic last year of his hopes to reunite with the surviving members of NWA and record new music. 

"Aw man, I would love it," he said of a reunion in September.

"Why can’t me, Ren and Dre do records together that people love…get Yella back there."

A reunion show would be fitting for the group who will be inducted into the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame just a week before Coachella on 8 April.  

Meanwhile, last year's critically acclaimed NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton last week picked up an Oscar nom for Best Original Screenplay, though the film's executive producer slammed the Academy for this year's lack of diversity amongst the nominees.
