Holy Holy have returned with a new single, Messed Up, featuring rapper and producer Kwame, and announced an 11-date national tour for April and May alongside their friends Kwame, CLEWS and Medhanit.
Messed Up is unlike any other songs Holy Holy have released since their inception in 2011 - check out the video below and add the track to your streaming library here.
Messed Up reads between the lines of an auto-tune, indie-dance hit rather than the usual indie-rock the band have pushed for the last seven years.
Multi-instrumentalist Oscar Dawson of Holy Holy initially questioned the song, but decided that they had to keep the track, as he believed it worked "on a bunch of different levels." Kwame really adds to the track, delivering a perfect husky vocal amongst rapid synths and driving drums.
Messed Up is the first track to be unveiled from Holy Holy’s forthcoming, unannounced fifth album, which is teased to contain surprise collaborations between an iconic Aussie dance music duo, local and international hip-hop artists, and more.
To celebrate the release of Messed Up, Holy Holy have announced an accompanying 11-date national tour kicking off on 14 April at the University of Wollongong. From there, the band will head to Newcastle, the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Torquay, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fremantle, Margaret River, Canberra and Sydney. You can access pre-sale tickets on Monday, 6 March (tickets here) or buy general on-sale tickets on Tuesday, 7 March here.
