Gold Coast DJ FISHER has teamed up with Chris Lake to re-release Sante Sansone’s remix of Gotye’s 2011 classic tune, Somebody That I Used To Know.

FISHER shared the news about the collaborative remix on Instagram this week, with the song itself set to land next Friday, 9 February.

In the clip shared to social media, FISHER and co. stick to the original melody created by Belgian-born Australian performer Gotye and New Zealand’s Kimbra while dialling up the bass and including a massive drop. You can listen to a teaser for the new Somebody That I Used To Know remix below and pre-save here.

If you’ve ever wondered what happened to Gotye following his meteoric rise to fame in 2011, you’re not alone. But it’s important to know that Gotye hasn’t gone anywhere.

Gotye has remained active as a member of the band The Basics, who went on to release two albums in 2014 and 2015.

Formed in 2003 with Gotye as a founding member, the band is still active. In 2019, they released their record, B.A.S.I.C. They’ve released five studio albums, five EPs and five live albums, as well as two compilation releases.

Gotye never stopped making music. Instead, he turned to a passion project to pursue his creative needs. Their discography includes moments of pop-rock, electro-pop, alt-country and reggae. They've performed over 2500 shows around the world.

Meanwhile, in other FISHER news, the DJ finally unveiled the music festival he teased, initially hyped as EPIIC but now revealed to be the Out 2 Lunch festival.

The event takes place on Saturday, 4 May, at the famous Coolangatta Beach with fellow electronic stars Vintage Culture – marking the Brazil-based DJ’s first-ever Australian show – Flight Facilities, Little Fritter and Shimmy.

FISHER will play his first Australian concert of the year for BWS Cool Room this month, with the star recently announced as a co-headliner at this year’s Bonnaroo festival. He shares co-headlining slots with Pretty Lights, Post Malone, Fred again.. and Red Hot Chili Peppers. On Christmas Day, the Gold Coast producer and pro surfer announced that he and his wife are expecting their first baby together.
