Ed Sheeran fans experienced the biggest surprise on his Mathematics tour (so far), when Eminem joined the Bad Habits singer live in Detroit on Saturday (15 July).
The show, in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit, reprised the pair’s medley performance upon Eminem’s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in November 2022.
“I wondered if I could play you a cover of an Eminem song tonight,” Sheeran told the enraptured stadium audience. “I think you know it. We rehearsed it today; we’ll see how it goes.”
Armed with his trusty acoustic guitar, Sheeran strummed the intro to Lose Yourself and rapped the iconic first few lines before Eminem came on stage to deafening cheers, performing the remainder of the first verse and Sheeran providing harmonic backing vocals in the chorus.
From there, they cut Lose Yourself short, and Sheeran said, “Can I just say, he was gonna come out and do one song, but I said you can’t come out in Detroit and just do one song. Do you want another song?” The pair subsequently launched into Stan, with Sheeran covering Dido’s chorus and Eminem flawlessly rapping the rest.

Eminem was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last year by his longtime collaborator, Dr Dre. He played a medley including My Name Is, Rap God, Not Afraid and Forever, and brought out Aerosmith's Steven Tyler for a live recreation of the Dream On sample found on Sing For The Moment and Ed Sheeran to reprise Dido's chorus on Stan.
Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran explained how rapping along to Eminem songs “cured” his childhood stutter.
Last month, an anonymous caller let slip to Triple M that Eminem could tour Australia next year. The caller claimed that Ticketek is in talks with owners at Adelaide Oval for The Eminem Show, which holds approximately 53,000 people.
“I heard a big name is coming to town at the end of the year, and it's Eminem... a friend of a friend let it slip from Ticketek,” the anonymous caller said. “They [Ticketek] are currently working with Adelaide Oval to sort out a venue.”
On Thursday, 8 June, Mark 'Roo' Ricciuto also addressed the Eminem touring rumours on his 104.7 Triple M show, stating t“They're 100 per cent in negotiations… but it's not done yet. Ticketek are involved and Adelaide Oval,” Daily Mail reports.
Ricciuto continued, “It won't be in 2023… it will be between the Adelaide Oval Test match against the West Indies and Round one of the football.” According to Ricciuto’s sources and prediction, the rumoured Eminem tour should occur between January and mid-March 2024.
