The Texan ambient pop group will make their first trip Down Under in early 2018.
After several years of toiling in relative obscurity, ascendant Texan ambient pop outfit Cigarettes After Sex have made a mighty impact internationally following the release of their self-titled debut album and a breakout sync deal.
They'll now ride that new forceful wave of momentum to their first-ever Australian shows in January 2018, stepping out in Brisbane and Melbourne in support of the full-length.
And, although it doesn't appear among its 10 tracks, it's almost a certainly local fans will be treated to a live rendition of Nothing's Gonna Hurt You Baby, the Mazzy Star-esque tune — from their 2012 EP I. — that stole the show when it was featured in hit series The Handmaid's Tale, based on Margaret Atwood's dystopian 1985 novel.
While their maiden voyage to our shores is admittedly somewhat limited in scope, we wouldn't fret too hard if you're not in one of its destination cities — with the kind of profile this band is amassing, it won't be long before they're either adding extra shows, returning for another trip, or doing the rounds on our festival circuit, so your time will undoubtedly come.
