Morgan Wallen Sets Another Aus Chart Record

Morgan Wallen has lasted another week at #1 with his Last Night track. 

Last Night and its fourth week at #1 in Australia is now the longest-continual running chart-topping single this century for the record label 'Mercury', with their last four-week-running #1 song being Shania Twain with You're Still The One (from May 10th, 1998), in-between though Elton John saw his Dua Lipa infused track Cold Heart (PNAU Remix) accumulate 10 weeks at the top but that was from four separate runs at either two or three-week stays. So Elton's the longest and had two #1s on Mercury during this century, but Morgan Wallen leads the continual-run leader-board. 

The country track Last Night also retakes the #1 spot in The U.S.A. this week, racking up its fourth overall stay there, while it dips slightly in England (28 to #31), Ireland (7 to #8), New Zealand (3 to #5) and holds in Canada at #3. New Zealand has another new #1 song this week as Korean act FIFTY FIFTY climb to the top of their singles chart with Cupid, which locally jumps up four spots to land at #2 this week. The song also cracked the Top 10 in England (18 to #9), Top 20 in Ireland (27 to #16) and Canada (20 to #19) and Top 50 in The U.S.A. (50 to #41), plus NZ are now the fourth country to make the song a #1 hit after Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. 

Maintaining a 15th week at #1 in Canada this week is Miley Cyrus' Flowers track, which here is down to its lowest position of #3 after twelve weeks at #1 and then four weeks at #2, after which there are single place drops for Kill Bill for SZA (feat. Doja Cat), Boy's A Liar (pt.2) for PinkPantheress and Ice Spice and Daylight by David Kushner to #4, #5 and #6 respectively, with David's Daylight track at #2 in England (stable) and New Zealand (LW-1), #3 in Ireland (LW-2), #4 in Germany (LW-5) and dipping a little in Canada (6 to #8).

The second and third stable tracks within the Top 10 this week are at #7 and #8, as Die For You by The Weeknd and Ariana Grande holds at #7, continuing its pattern of moving then holding (three weeks at #3, then five weeks at #5, now a second week at #7). Australia is still the only country to have made Luke Combs' rendition of Fast Car a Top 10 hit so far, as it idles at #8 this week, with Canada its next highest peak of #11 this week. Two songs return to the Top 10 this week, with the Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold duet Until I Found You back up four places to #9 (WI10-7), while Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero is back up one spot to #10, now increasing it's Top 10 weeks to 24 in total (still her longest ever in Australia, equal 15th longest of all time).

TOP 20

The two tracks departing the Top 10 this week are Escapism. for RAYE and 070 Shake (HP-3x3, WI10-16) which dips one spot to #11, while last week's highest new entry for The Weeknd and Future with Double Fantasy (WI10-1) halves its position from last week and drops nine places to #18, with the track likely to rebound in June once the TV series it's from is issued for screening. 

There are a total of twelve non-movers or stable tracks within the Top 50 this week, the three within the Top 20 are As It Was by Harry Styles (#12), Players by Coi Leray (#15) and I Ain't Worried by OneRepublic (#17). Creepin' is doing just that; creeping back up the chart for Metro Boomin' with The Weeknd and 21 Savage, this week it's up to #13, followed by the two new peaks within the Top 20 this week, Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez, up two spots to #14 (previous peak was #15 on April 10th), and then Miracle by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding moves up a couple of spots to #16, while it maintains its lead in Ireland (6th week) and England (4th week), after which Zach Bryan regains a Top 20 berth with Something In The Orange at #19 (LW-22)

TOP 30

Ed Sheeran has had a very busy time this past week, on Tuesday he said he would quit music if he lost his Marvin Gaye estate accusation of plagiarism, on Wednesday Disney+ dropped his four-part docu-series Ed Sheeran: (+ The x Sum ÷ of  = it - All), on Thursday he won the court case over Thinking Out Loud potentially sounding like Let's Get it On by Marvin Gaye, and then on Friday he issued his fifth maths album on the fifth day of the fifth month called - (subtract), and now this past weekend he had pop-up stores in Sydney and Melbourne (Saturday) and Brisbane (Sunday). His highest-placed single this week is down two spots to #21, the first track from his new album - subtract called Eyes Closed, while from his last album he remains on hold at #24 with Shivers. We could possibly see all fourteen tracks (or 18 tracks from the expanded edition, or even 23 tracks from the deluxe vinyl version) from Ed's new album charting next week.

The new Lewis Capaldi track Wish You the Best leaps up eleven places to land at a new peak of #23 this week, his first of two Top 50 entries this week, while the Top 30 has the most non-movers this week with four, so apart from the aforementioned Ed track, Green Green Grass by George Ezra is at #25 for a third straight week, holding its #28 peak for a second week is the Labrinth and Billie Eilish collaboration Never Felt So Alone, while Morgan Wallen also remains on hold at #30 with You Proof.  

TOP 40

Tyler, The Creator with Kali Uchis see their collab See You Again jump sixteen places this week to land at #32, while the track also leaps in England (36 to #27), New Zealand (22 to #13), The U.S.A. (65 to #52) and Canada (58 to #39). A new duet version of the Libianca track People dropped recently featuring Becky G. as guest rapper which has helped the track to jump up here seven places this week to a new peak of #34, with rises also for Lewis' Someone You Loved (38 to #36) and Tom Odell's Another Love (42 to #37).

Drake's Search And Rescue track drops four places to #31, with the only non-mover within this chart region being JVKE and golden hour at #35, in fact it holds at #35 in its 35th week within the Top 100 (weird huh!), while there's a seven place slump to #40 for the Meghan Trainor former Top 5 entry Made You Look, with the second-time mum-to-be due in early July having just issued her new parenting book this past week. 

TOP 50

Country music is not only dominating much of the charts these days, but it keeps throwing new singers at us, as this week Missouri, U.S.A singer Sam Barber takes his first ever chart entry Straight And Narrow up twenty-one places to land at a new peak of #41 (previously 62-91-new), becoming the sixth Top 50 Country song this week. He began posting covers to YouTube in 2019 and won a golden ticket while auditioning for American Idol in April 2022. 

Sunroof for Nicky Youre drops to #42, with Elton and Dua's Cold Heart down four to #44, while the twelfth and final stable track is at #45, Mr. Brightside for The Killers. Drops occur for both Stay by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber (43 to #48) and a seventeen-place slump to #49 for Miss You by Oliver Tree and Robin Schulz, while sneaking back into the Top 50 by rising three places to land at #50 is No Role Modelz for J. Cole, which this week racks up half-a-year (26 weeks) within the Top 50, while last week the track saw its two-year (104 weeks) chart anniversary for charting within the Top 100. 

No new entries this week to the Top 50.
