Charli XCX Boiler Room Parties Going Down In Sydney & Melbourne Tonight

We may be in the depths of winter here in Australia, but who says we can’t have a Brat summer?

Tonight, in Sydney and Melbourne, two nightclubs will host viewing parties of Charli XCX’s Boiling Room set in Ibiza, which took place earlier this month. That’s right, fans get to watch the British icon play the instant classics from her latest album, Brat, including 365, Club Classics, Everything Is Romantic and more, plus revisiting some of her past hits and some surprise covers.

The Charli XCX viewing parties, entitled CLUB ANGEL, will go down at Sydney’s Burdekin Hotel, Darlinghurst, at 10:30 pm. The Melbourne event starts hours earlier (6:30 pm) at Miscellania on Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD.

Both events are strictly 18+ and limited in capacity. Once the clubs are full, no one else will be permitted entry. The events will operate on a “first in, free drink on arrival” basis, so get down to the clubs ASAP.

Charli XCX and her fans have been enjoying Brat summer since the album’s release last month (7 June). In Australia, the album debuted at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart and #1 on the ARIA Dance Albums Chart. The follow-up to 2022’s Crash, Brat has been described as a “masterpiece” by The Guardian’s Laura Snapes and has been met with mass critical acclaim.

In other Charli XCX news, last month, the singer made it clear she wouldn’t stand to see her diehards coming for Taylor Swift.

Her fans believed there was a battle going on between the Vroom Vroom singer and Taylor Swift, as Brat was on track to debut at #1 in her native UK but was sniped by The Tortured Poets Department (Swift’s 11th album) after the latter artist released a new edition of it the same week.

In response, some of Charli’s fans went on social media and issued insults and threats—of varying severity—at Swift and her own fans. The behaviour extended to Charli’s concerts and listening parties, with fans chanting, “TAYLOR SWIFT IS DEAD.”

As Rolling Stone reported, Charli showed no time for that behaviour at a show in Brazil.

In an update to her Instagram Story (which has since been deleted), she reportedly wrote: “Can the people who do this please stop[?] Online or at my shows. It is the opposite of what I want, and it disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate it.”

Earlier this week, Charli was one of many artists to react to US President Joe Biden's declaration that he was dropping out of the presidential race. Charli threw her hat behind Biden’s Vice President, Kamala Harris, and said Harris “IS brat” (complimentary).
