Popular UK indie rockers Catfish And The Bottlemen have announced their first Australian tour in five years, set to make their return down under this September.
The tour begins at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday, 4 September, before it heads to Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Friday, 6 September, Bar On The Hill in Newcastle on Saturday, 7 September, Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday, 8 September, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Tuesday, 10 September, and wraps up at Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Thursday, 12 September.
Secret Sounds subscribers gain first access to tickets, with the pre-sale starting at 11 am on Thursday, 30 May. The general sale opens on Friday, 31 May, at 11 am local time – you can find more tour details on the Secret Sounds website.
After a hiatus from 2019 to 2023, Catfish And The Bottlemen are back with a new single, Showtime, released earlier this year. The band pulled out of gigs in Wales in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then “unforeseen practical issues.” 2021 also marked the departures of drummer Bob Hall and guitarist Johnny Bond.
At the time of writing, Catfish And The Bottlemen consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Van McCann and bassist and backing vocalist Benji Blakeway.
In a review of the band’s July 2019 show at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena, The Music’s Michael Prebeg declared, “Frontman Van McCann is an incredible showman, throwing himself around the stage with a phenomenal amount of energy and giving passionate introductions that make every track feel like an encore.”
