Popular British indie rock band Catfish And The Bottlemen have cancelled their Australian tour.
The first date of the tour was set to take place tonight at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. However, due to “band illness,” all six dates of the tour won’t be going ahead. The cancellation follows the band's recent withdrawal from their concert in Dublin over the weekend.
News of the tour cancellation arrived in ticketholders’ inboxes this morning, and a statement regarding the cancelled dates is on the Ticketek and promoters’ Secret Sounds websites.
The statement reads:
Catfish and The Bottlemen want to thank the fans for their support. This weekend they were hoping to still be able to perform but on doctor orders they were forced to cancel their show in Dublin. Due to band illness, the Australian dates this month will also no longer be going ahead. The band were really looking forward to these shows and sincerely apologise to everyone for any inconvenience and disappointment.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Punters will be “automatically refunded in full” to their original payment methods.

The band were set to tour Australia for the first time in five years this month. The dates were Wednesday, 4 September, at the Hordern Pavilion; Friday, 6 September (Festival Hall, Melbourne); Saturday, 7 September (Bar On The Hill in Newcastle); Sunday, 8 September (Fortitude Music Hall, Brisbane); Tuesday, 10 September (Hindley Street Music Hall, Adelaide); and Thursday, 12 September (Red Hill Auditorium, Perth).
After a hiatus from 2019 to 2023, Catfish And The Bottlemen returned with a new single, Showtime, earlier this year. The band pulled out of gigs in Wales in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then “unforeseen practical issues.” 2021 also marked the departures of drummer Bob Hall and guitarist Johnny Bond.
At the time of writing, Catfish And The Bottlemen consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Van McCann and bassist and backing vocalist Benji Blakeway.
