Blind Guardian Add Perth Gig To February 2024 Australian Tour

Blind Guardian’s upcoming return to our shores has been met with demand, with the German power metal lords adding a Perth stop to their February 2024 Australian tour.

The band’s first Australian tour in nine years has now expanded to a national tour visiting the country’s five most populous cities.

With the additional date, Blind Guardian’s tour begins on Monday, 5 February, at Brisbane’s Princess Theatre, followed by Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Wednesday, 7 February, Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Friday, 9 February, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Saturday, 10 February, and wraps up at Perth’s Magnet House on Monday, 12 February.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now via Overdrive Touring.

The tour, which arrives in support of the band’s September 2022 album, The God Machine, is selling fast. According to Overdrive Touring’s Facebook page – bear in mind that this post is a month old – tickets were already going quickly in mid-August, with a “Selling Fast” sticker beside the Brisbane date, “Under 400 Left” for Melbourne and Sydney, and Adelaide was 50% sold.

In case you’re unfamiliar, Blind Guardian are a band that writes entire albums around J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Silmarillion (Nightfall In Middle Earth), the stories of King Arthur and Merlin (Imaginations From The Other Side), The Witcher, getting to Valhalla, Battlestar Galactica, and American Gods.

Their music is anchored by the endlessly dynamic vocals of maestro Hansi Kürsch, the soloing abilities and melodic force of guitarists André Olbrich and Marcus Siepen, drummer Frederik Ehmke and bassist Johan van Stratum.

Blind Guardian’s upcoming tour marks the band’s first-ever stops in Brisbane and Adelaide. If Setlist.fm is correct, it also signals their debut visit to Perth.

Kürsch, sounding as dulcet and commanding as ever, said about The God Machine last year: “We didn't want to rehash our qualities from 1995, but didn't want to continue down this complex path forever either. The God Machine is a new beginning for us. We've set a new course and gone back to certain things that we've neglected a bit on the last few albums.”
