Queensland indie rockers Beddy Rays have announced that they’re heading on a tour of east coast record stores in support of their forthcoming album, Do What Ya Wanna - slated for release on April 18. The band will be hitting up various stores from their hometown, Redland Bay, all the way to Adelaide, Wollongong and Melbourne, playing acoustic sets and doing in-store signings.

“We're doing a record store tour babyyyy! Our new album is out in 9 days and we wanted to give it a proper launch by hitting a few record stores and doing an acoustic set and signing! We're so excited to hang out and sink a couple tinnys with all of ya to celebrate this album,” Beddy Rays wrote on Instagram.

They’re kicking off the tour at Redland Bay’s Community Hall next Friday, April 18 - the day of release. From there, they’ll do a double whammy, hitting both Sydney’s Crowbar and Wollongong’s Music Farmers on April 19. Newcastle’s Rudderless Records is next on April 20, before another double header at the Gold Coast’s Badlands and Byron Bay’s Howl And Moan on April 21. Beddy Rays will then grace Adelaide’s Clarity Records on April 22 and Melbourne’s Oh Jean on April 23.

Lastly, they’ll close out the tour with another double whammy in Brisbane, playing Sonic Sherpa on April 24 before setting out on an exclusive (and limited!) boat cruise on the Brisbane River - which is already sold out.

Do What Ya Wanna will be the lovable larrikins’ sophomore album, and marks the band’s first foray into new territory, showcasing a sound that nods to the early eras of punk icons like Green Day and Weezer while embracing the melodic expansiveness of bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen. It’s a natural evolution, though, not straying too far from the slapstick indie-rock Beddy Rays are known for.

Frontman Jackson Van Issum said, “This album is us - our highs, our lows, and everything in between. Writing it was a way to make sense of all the craziness life throws at you, but it’s also about not taking yourself too seriously and enjoying the ride. That’s what Beddy Rays is all about.”
