Two shows for fans of wonky, math-dappled experimental rock this February
Celebrated US experimental rockers Battles will perform two standalone headline shows while in the country early next year for 2016's St Jerome's Laneway Festival, it has been announced.
The eclectic outfit — who recently released their mostly well-received third studio full-length, La Di Da Di, and impressed our reviewer at their Webster Hall show in New York — will perform at Sydney University's Manning Bar on Wednesday 10 February, heading down to the Melbourne arm of Max Watt's House Of Music on Friday 12 February.
Battles have been plugging on as a three-piece since the departure of Tyondai Braxton before their second LP, Gloss Drop, remaining founders John Stanier (The Mark Of Cain/Tomahawk), Dave Konopka and Ian Williams (Don Caballero, Storm & Stress) being left to continue to sharpen their dynamic and chemistry leading up to, and beyond, the release of La Di Da Di earlier this year. February will undoubtedly find them in fine form and, with several festival spots on Aussie shores to their credit already, ready to return with a bang.
Tickets for both shows are on sale from Monday 2 November via the Manning Bar and Max Watt's House Of Music. For more information, see theGuide or check The Music App; for further details on Laneway in general, see our dedicated event page under the Festivals tab.
