Ariel Pink Announces Australian Album Tour Dates

Cult-favourite US muso Ariel Pink will return to Australia this November for a four-date tour in support of his upcoming album, Dedicated To Bobby Jameson.

Pink's first date takes place as part of Melbourne Music Week's festivities, hitting the Melbourne Recital Hall on Tuesday 21 November before heading north to Brisbane, west to Perth and back east to finish up at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory.

The trip will come in the wake of Dedicated To Bobby Jameson's release, which is scheduled for Friday 15 September on Mexican Summer via Rocket, but will draw from across Pink's expansive two-decade catalogue, the most recent addition to which is newly unveiled single Feels Like Heaven, itself a follow-up to slow-burning, atmospheric gem Another Weekend.

The album is indeed a tribute to real-life LA musician Bobby Jameson, who was incredibly presumed dead for more than three decades before being found alive 10 years ago.

"His book and life resonated with me to such a degree that I felt a need to dedicate my latest record to him," Pink said in a statement. "We follow the protagonist through a battery of tests and milestones, the first of which sees him reborn into life out of death.

"From there, he seesaws his way between the innocent love and the rock-solid edifice of childhood-worn trauma that together constitute his lifelong initiation into the realm of artifice and theatrical disposability."

Pink's new set is an emotive yet typically atypical collection, only further enriching an already eclectic and acclaimed body of work in which Aussie audiences will be able to bask in just a few months' time.
