New Zealand singer-songwriter Jenny Mitchell has poured her heart and soul into her second record, Wildfires.

The folk/Americana artist has produced 12 stunning songs ahead of her Aussie tour, which kicks off in Melbourne later this month.

“This album takes listeners through the journey of leaving home and the long ache of losing a first love,” Mitchell told The Music

“It then tells the story of my grandparents migration and the highs and lows of a life as a singer-songwriter - which can tend to be rather transient.

“I just hope people will listen and be reminded of themselves, or those around them, in my lyrics.”

At only 19, Mitchell’s already accrued some serious accolades, including New Zealand Gold Guitar and MLT Songwriting awards.

After releasing her debut LP, The Old Oak, to a wealth of praise, she teamed up with award-winning Aussie producer Matt Fell for a follow-up, enlisting Shane Nicholson (acoustics), Glen Hannah (electric guitar), Luke Moller (fiddle) and Josh Schuberth (percussion and drums) as her backing band.

Wildfire is out next Monday, Oct 22, and you can find all tour dates in support in theGuide.
