Youngcare has announced the return of its music industry gala Tales From The Road, slated to hit Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall in August for a star-studded 2023 edition.
The main event will run from 12pm to 4pm on Friday August 11, with an afterparty at The Outpost running well into the night. Hosting will be the one and only Myf Warhurst – long renowned as one of Australia’s most prestigious presenters, journalists, and broadcasters – leading a panel of equally iconic musicians: Lindy Morrison of The Go-Betweens, Patience Hodgson of The Grates, George Sheppard of Sheppard and Luke Boerdam of Violent Soho.
Their goal? To smash the “golden rule” of the music industry, that “what happens on tour stays on tour”. In addition to their undoubtedly iconic stories, the artists will perform intimate renditions of their time-honoured songs, all in the spirit of raising funds for Youngcare; a national not-for-profit, revolutionising the way young people with physical disability live – with freedom, dignity, and choice. You can grab your tickets to this year’s Tales From The Road gala here.
Attendees will be treated to arrival canapés, a two-course lunch and a four-hour beverage package, with beers coming courtesy of Brick Lane Brewing – a Brissy institution – and wine from the Granite Belt’s best, Balancing Heart Vineyard. Then, at the afterparty (which also serves as the official BIGSOUND 2023 pre-party), punters will get their groove on with an exclusive DJ set from Cooper Smith.
In a statement shared with TheMusic, CEO Greg Johnson said of this year’s event: “It’s back! I am delighted and excited by the return of Tales From The Road, and a special thanks to JC and the Fortitude Music Hall for collaborating with Youngcare, to get this event back into our calendars. We are blessed to have support from all over the Australian music industry.”
