Melburnian indie duo Sweet Jean are readying to hit the road for a spell from this weekend in support of their effusively received second full-length, Monday To Friday, but, before they set off, The Music is proud to be premiering the video for new single Main Street today.
Created in close collaboration with photographer and experimental theatre creator Pier Carthew, the stark, minimalist clip for the darkly luscious indie-pop gem finds band members Sime Nugent and Alice Keath face-to-face on probably the world's most unsettling dinner date — or possibly, given the balloons, two-person party; either way, poor old Nugent seems to have drawn the short straw, eventually being bombarded with flying trash until he cries milky tears (not a word of that description is a lie).
The band will be taking their celebrated show on the road from this Friday, 8 July, when they head to the Bello Winter Music Festival in Bellingen before getting under way proper on Friday 15 July with a show at Ashgrove's Skukum Lounge. Sweet Jean also have dates lined up in Mullumbimby, Castlemaine, Thebarton, Northcote, Darlinghurst and Oakleigh (where they wrap up at the Caravan Music Club on Saturday 6 August), with supports throughout the tour including the likes of McKisko, Andrew Morris, Jim Lawrie, The Aves, Darling James, Emma Davis and Leroy Lee.
