The 10 Best Music Videos of the Week | 2023 Week 29

Music videos are artistic extensions of the songs themselves, with many visual accompaniments becoming just as, if not more iconic than the song it was created for. As usual, some of our favourite songs of the week also had some of our favourite videos, with this week's list including new singles & videos from Augustus Muller, beabadoobee, Denzel Curry, Harm's Way, Islands, Mona Yim & Memphis LK, Royel Otis, Viji, Wayside and Who Is She?.

Augustus Muller - Fur And Metal

Augustus Muller (aka Gus of Boy Harsher) has teamed up with experimental pornographer Four Chambers for two different film scores. One of the first tastes, the driving 80s-electro inspired Fur And Metal, comes with a very NSFW short film inspired by David Cronenberg's iconic 1996 film Crash. Cellulosed Bodies is out September 1 via Nude Club Records.

beabadoobee - the way things go

beabadoobee continues her prolific purple patch with a charming new single of indie folk pop alongside a video featuring incredible costume design, choreography and cinematography.

Denzel Curry - Blood On My Nikez

After his triumphant lap of Australia with Groovin The Moo, Curry drops his first original new music of the year, going back to his roots with some dark and bouncy trappy goodness, while the video matches the energy with Curry and crew in party mode. Harm's Way - Silent Wolf

While many people's introduction to Harm's Way may have been through the now iconic Running Man meme, the Chicago band have been making all manner of extreme, heavy sounds for over 15 years, and are back with a relentlessly crushing new single and throwback style music video that flips between the band jamming out and a paranoid, man on the run narrative. Harm's Way's new album Common Suffering is out September 29 via Metal Blade.

Islands - Superstitious

Canadian experimental indie rock veterans announced their ninth studio album with a mellow, downtempo electronic inspired new tune and a psychedelic, zooming collage video. Islands' new album And That’s Why Dolphins Lost Their Legs is out August 25 via ELF.

Mona Yim & Memphis LK - Thinkin Of U

Berlin/London based musician, DJ and producer Mona Yim and London via Melbourne musician, DJ and producer Memphis LK link up for a short & sweet new single of breakbeat infused alt-pop with a video that sees the pair exploring the streets of Berlin.

Royel Otis - Adored

Ahead of their debut Splendour performance, Sydney/Eora duo drop a rollicking upper tempo new single and trippy, infinitely regressing A.I. created music video.

Viji - Sedative

Austrian-born, London-based artist combines lofi indie with 90s alt-rock and grunge vibes in a delicious blend, while the music video sees Viji on a bizarre, psych-ward induced journey. Viji's debut album So Vanilla is out October 27 via Speedy Wunderground.

Wayside - Parallax Error

We got to know Naarm/Melbourne-based atmospheric alt-rock genre melding duo Wayside earlier this week when they dropped a double single, with Parallax Error getting the stylised live performance video treatment.

Who Is She? - 96 Ghouls

Seattle four-piece tease their forthcoming album with a new single of stripped back post-punk sounds and a cool paper cut-out shadow puppet style video. Who Is She?'s new album Goddess Energy is out August 25 via Father/Daughter Records.
