The Adelaide favourites will share their new album, Doomsday Ballet, on October 18th - with a national tour to follow..
Since their break-out 2014 single Dumb Ideas, Adelaide rockers Bad//Dreems have blossomed into an essential act of Australian rock and the many facets it occupies, from its tendencies to fall into punk-ier or surf-ier sounds, or its ability to be stripped right back to raw, indie-leaning ballads. Regardless of what form their music takes, it can be assured that Bad//Dreems will always knock it out of the park, and that's been something front-and-centre has they've moved between album cycles and singles - the former represented through 2015's debut Dogs At Bay, and again with 2017's Gutful.
This versatility and range, bound by Bad//Dreems' signature slickness and knack for brilliant songwriting, is something bound to be spotlighted through the latter half of 2019 too, with the band currently leaping towards the release of their next record Doomsday Ballet, and with it, unveiling some of their best music to date. There was May's comeback return Double Dreaming and now, Morning Rain: the album's second tease which together with Double Dreaming, welcome an assurance that Bad/Dreems' forthcoming record will be another stand-out display of Australian rock.
Morning Rain - when compared to Double Dreaming's blistering rock - is a moment a little more subtle and relaxed, contrasting between a simplistic pulsing rhythm in its verses to the maximalist walls of guitar riffs that occupy its chorus, showcasing that aforementioned Bad//Dreems versatility within just one song. "It is fever dream rant about the end of days, shadowed by a statement of defiance and resilience," says the band's Alex Cameron on the song, before lead singer Ben Marwe continues: "It feels like I’m leaving the table as the world disintegrates in the last wave of acid. Hard Rain. Take your ticket and wait in line to jump into the abyss."
It arrives with an official video clip, made by the band with Tom Stevens at South Australia's Orroroo. "The clip was filmed at our friend's farm, which is about three hours north of Adelaide at a place called Ororroo," explains Alex Cameron on the clip. "It's north of Goyder's line. It's rained once there this year. It's the same place we filmed Hoping For. It's beautiful country. The land is barren and stark, and in the distance in every direction are mountains. Keep going north and you come to the Flinder's Ranges. We were lucky enough to have one of our friends, Tom Stevens, film and edit the clip, with the assistance of our long time video collaborator Ben Helweg. The Nutt family, who own the farm, are always incredibly hospitable. They love a good bonfire, which certainly helped.

We wanted to make a cinematic clip which utilised the landscapes. We took influence from Ozploitation films, the original Mad Max, The Rover and some other clips like Fool's Gold and Atmosphere."
