Wave RacerFive days ago Australia’s king of console electronica Wave Racer (Tom Purcell) released his long awaited Flash Drive EP. There’s already been a bandwagon of support for his Flash Drive track and the World Record colab with Norway’s Lido. It’s now time to shed some light on the heaving opening composition. Introooo is a sparkling opener, full of Purcell’s signature twinkling keys, rapid-fire arpeggio rhythms and rattling high hats. At 1:06, the track hits a crescendo when close friends and fellow Sydneysiders Cosmo’s Midnight (Cosmo Liney, Pat Liney) join the party. Our ears a smothered with stabs of dense synth rolling over excited ‘heys!’ and vocal snatches. It’s essentially a very well considered conglomeration of energetically-constructed sound.
